Hannah Doesn't Dampen Spirits At Thunderbolt
Several members of the USSK spent the weekend of September 5th through the 7th braving tropical storm conditions to race the new “Lightning” track at the recently opened New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville, New Jersey. The track itself was described by all to have been “fast as glass” and a very fun track to run.
And fun they had! Weather conditions were beautiful for Friday's Qualifying which saw Superkart driver Andy Kiker set a new track record with a fast lap of 1:04.4 and Johnny West following very closely behind with a 1:05.3. Scott Fiesler had the third fastest time (1:07.7) with Tris Gour and Jim Brannon coming in within two one-hundredths of a second apart (1:10.1 and 1:10.3 respectively). Ken Anderson and Jim Anthony were unable to qualify due to mechanical issues.
Little did any of the USSK members expect the ride they were in for overnight and throughout the day Saturday. Wind gusts picked up to a reported 60+ MPH and heavy rains soaked the track as the remnants of Hurricane Hannah rolled through the area.
But on Sunday conditions once again allowed for excellent racing and what a race spectators got to see as the USSK Champions Andy Kiker and Johnny West battled back and forth for the win. Eventually it was Kiker crossing the finish line just ahead of West. Rounding out the field were Tris Gour, Ken Anderson, and Jim Anthony. Scott Fiesler and Jim Brannon did not finish due to tire issues.

Our next race will be at Road Atlanta in Braselton, Georgia on October 31, November 1, and November 2 where the USSK will wind down the 2008 season, start the 2009 season, and crown our class champions. USSK Steering Commitee Announces 2009 Rules
Updated 08/27/08: Despite the fact that there are still 2 race weekends remaining in the USSK's 2008 season, the Steering Committee has been hard at work gathering member input and crafting the rules for next year's season.
Among changes to the existing rules are the permanent addition of the ICE National Class (Division III), and the introduction of an experimental class (Division IV) for Formula 125 Superkarts.

Atlanta Superparts Donates Bodywork
Mark Croslyn, owner of Atlanta Superparts and USSK Steering Committee Member, agreed early this year to donate a complete set of bodywork to be raffled off at the year end awards banquet to be held Saturday November 1, 2008.
In addition to this previously unannounced prize, Mark and his wife Sandra have done an amazing job securing and coordinating the location for the banquet. Thanks to their hard-work and local connections, the 2008 USSK Year End Banquet will be held at The Houndstooth Grill & Tavern in Braselton which has an outstanding reputation for excellent food and whose staff is committed successfully hosting what will be their largest party yet!
