Round Two of the 2009 USSK season opened in Millville, New Jersey at New Jersey Motorsports Park , Lighting course and was hosted by the Woodbridge Kart Club. The 1.9 mile course was the backdrop of a fierce battle for first place in Division II/ICE 250 between Scott Fiesler (PVP/Gas Gas), Jayce Haghighi (Anderson/Gas Gas/hoosier) and Andy Kiker (Anderson/Gas Gas).
With the IC/E class points race in a tight competition, Round Two proved to be a weekend of extremely exciting racing. Qualifying showed Andy Kiker with the fast lap of the weekend of a 1:03.81 taking the pole. Jayce and Scott were within .27 seconds of each other. John West (Anderson/Honda) dominated the Qualifying in the Division I/FE 250 class with a lap of 1:04.84. Fast lap in the Division IV/F-125 class went to Joseph West (MSR/TM) with a time of 1:18.62 before breaking down.
Saturday's Race One showed Andy fending off Jayce and Scott the entire race. With fast laps between the three .31 seconds apart it was unclear who would prevail. Andy, cool as ice, stuffed both Scott and Jayce with traffic coming up with the win while Scott took Second. Jayce, unable to recover, fell back while Firouz Haghighi (Anderson/Gas Gas/hoosier) rounded out the top three. While the FE class sorted out gremlins, John West won the day after a hyime joint that held the motor mount broke, Tris Gour (Stockman/Honda) battled with handling issues and Mark Croslyn (PVP/Honda) fought jetting issues to round out the top three. Joseph West and Dennis Bernier(Anderson/TM) were having a tight race before Dennis's engine seized, allowing Joseph to take the win.
Sunday's Final could have been used as an instructional video of competitive racing again with Andy, Scott and Jayce. Fast and Furious the battle ensued with fast laps between the three .39 seconds apart. During the final laps, Jayce's shift lever broke, causing him to fall behind taking third, while Andy squeezed out the win over Scott by .7 seconds. Jayce held on to the fast lap of 1:04.80. Johnny West took the overall lead with 2 race weekend. Next up is Round Three, out of Topeka Kansas for Heartland Park .laps to go with a fast lap of 1:04.92, however, during the final turn ran over some debris on the track which blew out the left front tire, limping over the finish line to take First place with Tris Gour and Ken Anderson(P1/Rotax) rounding out the podium. Again, Dennis Bernier and Joseph West had a tight race battling back and forth for the lead before Dennis's engine again failed allowing Joseph to take the win with a fast lap of 1:17.60.
