Year End Awards Schedule Above

The USSK's membership is comprised primarily of Superkart drivers from all over the eastern half of the country. Since Road Atlanta is our last venue of the 2008 season, it makes sense both logistically and economically to have our year end awards & banquet that weekend as opposed to having our members drive to yet another location at a later date simply for a dinner party. This timeframe/schedule was discussed at the mid-season meeting at Road America, was voted on by the majority of the 2008 USSK membership, and has been deemed the best course of action under the circumstances.

Therefore, the Sunday race at Road Atlanta, which will be the first race of the 2009 season, will invite any drivers who are not currently USSK members wishing to pay the $50 for Sunday's USSK race to carry over their points from this event towards the 2009 USSK Points Championship. Additionally, those who pay the $50 to race on Sunday and who pay their 2009 USSK membership dues by the deadline - will receive a $50 credit off their 2009 membership.

The year-end awards banquet will be an event to remember throughout the winter months ahead! The Houndstooth Grill & Tavern will be where the 2008 USSK Class Champions will be crowned and a variety of other prizes will be awarded throughout the evening. Drinks, dinner, desert and more are in store for those who attend. For more information on the schedule of events for Saturday evening, please click on the invitation above.

Because seating is limited, we do ask that initially members limit their number of guests. Please RSVP to info@theussk.com no later then October 24, 2008 and let us know if you will be attending. Hope to see everyone there!

Cast Your Ballots Now!

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2008 USSK "Sportsman of the Year" and "Hard Knocks Award!" These awards have been opened up to include input and nominations from members to suggest fellow drivers/members who may have struggled behind the scenes or just had a really rough season that may or may not be reflected in their points (Hard Knocks Award) or for the driver/member they feel best exemplifies sportsmanlike conduct under trying circumstances.

Please e-mail us with a brief description of who you think should be considered for either award and WHY. Since we would like to have an element of surprise to this award, we ask that you not post your responses on the message board.

The winner of the "Hard Knocks Award" will receive a brand new helmet and custom graphics courtesy of Pat Wilson Graphics. If you have not seen Pat's work, it is amazing and you can check it out on his website.

All nominations should be made as soon as possible, but winners will not be chosen or announced until Saturday night at the awards banquet.

2008 USSK Sponsors

Pat Wilson Graphics (patwilsongraphics.com) is contributing the "Hard Knocks Award" and will be awarded to the driver with the lowest points average (points divided by number of races) at the end of the season.

The award itself is a new helmet complete with a custom paint job. The winner of this award will be able to work in conjunction with Pat to come up with a one-of-a-kind reminder of their 2008 USSK season.

USSK member and proud sponsor Johnny West of West Racing is offering, again this year, a chance to win a time share vacation for one lucky winner. This one week time share (good for four people) is lodging at any one of a variety of locations around the world. The winner will be responsible for airfare and must abide by the timeshare rules, but this fantastic prize offers a unique opportunity for the lucky winner.

USSK member and proud sponsor Jimmy Brannon of Freewheeling Honda will be offering one 5 gallon jug of VP fuel for each class at each race! The owner of Freewheeling Honda, in conjunction with VP Fuels, will give these prizes to winners determined by a pea pick at each race event.

Firouz Haghighi has agreed to donate a front end alignment tool for the year end awards.

USSK member and proud sponsor Pat Yoshikane of P1 Prototypes, Inc. will be giving away two sets of fiberglass bodywork to the FE and ICE Class Champions.

Once again, the USSK sincerely thanks these sponsors for playing a part in the success of the 2008 season, and we sincerely hope they will return in 2009. Members are strongly encouraged to demonstrate their own personal appreciation by patronizing those who are helping encourage the growth of our sport.
